Memphis, Tenn., Dec.14, (THAINDIAN NEWS) BJ Penn displayed a scintillating performance against challenger Diego Sanchez on Saturday at the UFC 107. The victory was all the more special for the American martial artist as he earned the title of UFC Lightweight Champion.

Although, Diego Sanchez tried his best to dominate the clash, the bout never seemed to go under his control as his opponent looked almost invincible throughout the fight. The bout which lasted for five rounds, witnessed the 31 year old fighter completely dominate his opponent which left Diego Sanchez hugely bruised, with his face bloodied by the end of the bout. Despite, the aggressive attack showcased by the winner, Diego Sanchez continued with his fight, which enabled the fight to roll on till the fifth round.

However, in the fifth and the final round, BJ Penn delivered a high kick that resulted in a huge gash in his opponents forehead. At this point, the massive injuries that were administered to Mexican-American fighter prompted the referee to bring in a doctor who could have a look at his injuries. After taking into account Diego Sanchez’s condition, the doctor took the decision that the fight should end. However, there was hardly any doubt left that Diego Sanchez had been defeated in the bout and that BJ Penn would emerge as the ultimate winner.

Following the fight, BJ Penn’s stunning performance was highly appreciated by everyone as he managed to remain in control of the fight in all the successive rounds and outplayed his opponent in all the facets of the fight.
