Mar 7, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Anticipation is running high among basketball fans as the Big East Tournament is all set to commence from March 9, Tuesday at the Madison Square Garden in New York. The tournament, which would be continuing till March 13, is expected to turn into a huge success with large number of fans likely to attend the event. The Big East tournament this year would mark the second time when all the sixteen conference teams would be participating.

As the fans eagerly wait for the commencement of the tournament, the 2010 Big East Tournaments brackets and schedule have already been disclosed. In the event, the top four seeded teams which include Syracuse, Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Villanova in the descending order, would automatically get the byes into the quarterfinal clashes of the Big East Conference. However, the rest of the teams would have to compete in the play-in games which are scheduled to take place from Tuesday, to register their position in the quarterfinals.

Meanwhile, on March 9, the first round of the 2010 Big East Conference commences with South Florida and DePaul in the first game with Connecticut and St. John’s competing with each other in the second game. This would be followed by the third game featuring Seton Hall against Providence with Cincinnati and Rutgers facing each other in the fourth game. The games in the following days would feature the winners of the play-in games with the top seeded teams. The much anticipated Big East Tournament Final would be held on March 13. The winning team of the finale is going to be bestowed with the Big East Conference’s automatic bid to the 2010 NCAA Tournament.
