Big Bash: Quiney guides Stars to eight-run win over Heat
December 20th, 2011 - 9:50 pm ICT by IANSBrisbane, Dec 20 (IANS) Former Rajasthan Royals batsman Rob Quiney smashed 97 runs off 60 balls to help Melbourne Stars register an eight-run victory over Brisbane Heat at the Gabba here Tuesday.
Electing to bat, the Stars were quickly off the block. Quiney and David Hussey shared a 105-run partnership to take them to 177 for seven.
Brisbane Heat, in reply, had a good start courtesy New Zealander Brendon McCullum. Till the half-way stage the home side were on-course to overhaul the visitors score.
However, an inspired spell of bowling by spin legend Shane Warne(1-22) and Clint McKay (3-22), pegged the Heats back and restricted them to a score of 169 for seven.
