Bidding frenzy for ‘entire life’ of heartbroken Brit on eBay
June 23rd, 2008 - 1:44 pm ICT by ANILondon, June 23 (ANI): A heartbroken Briton has launched an online auction of his ‘entire life’ on eBay, with the highest bid to date touching AU$ 2,201,000 (1.06m pounds).
In a bid to start afresh after his split from wife, Ian Usher from Australia has put his three-bedroom house in Perth, car, job and even his friends up for sale on the auction website.
The lot also includes a motorcycle, a jet ski and parachuting equipment.
The highest bidder will also be given an introduction to Mr Usher’s friends and a trial period in his job.
In the first hour of the bid, an offer came in for 150,000 pounds, which crossed the barrier 1million pounds within 24 hours of the opening. The highest bid to date is AU$ 2,201,000 (1.06m pounds).
‘Its very promising. I started at a dollar (50p) and I didnt expect it to go up this quickly, Telegraph quoted Usher, as saying.
“On the day it’s all sold and settled, I intend to walk out of my front door with my wallet in one pocket and my passport in the other, nothing else at all,” he added.
The 44-year-old Briton decided to sell off his entire life after realising that everything reminded him of his wife.
“Everything that I have, the furniture in the house, all has memories attached to it. It’s time to shed the old and in with the new,” he said.
Mr Usher and wife got separated more than a year ago, although details of the split are only available to users of Mr Usher’s website willing to pay a fee for the information.
He also said that his life would be sold as one lot and that bidders should be prepared to pay more than 420,000 Australian dollars (PS200,000), the top end of the valuation of his house.
He added: “My current thoughts are to head to the airport and ask at the flight desk where the next flight with an available seat goes to, and to get on that and see where life takes me from there.” (ANI)
