Bhaichung launches Bhaichung Bhutia Football School
October 30th, 2010 - 9:59 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Oct 30 (IANS) India captain Bhaichung Bhutia Saturday launched a Bhaichung Bhutia Football Schools youth development programme in association with former Portugal coach Carlos Quieroz.
During the launch, Bhutia said the youth development programme will start with Delhi and then move to Mumbai. It will be expanded to eight cities in three years. Football by Carlos Quieroz, a training school run by the Portuguese manager will provide the technical assistance, including coaches, for Bhaichung Bhutia Football Schools.
“To start with, we have tied up with Ryan International School. They have given us the infrastructure for the project. Slowly we have plans to move to Mumbai and expand it to eight cities in India,” said Bhutia.
The school will be operational by Nov 29. Thirty percent of the seats will be reserved for underprivileged students.
“We will have two coaches from Football by Carlos Quieroz. Our school will be open for youngsters who love to play the game. The school is aimed at encouraging kids to play, enjoy the sport and have fun. They will also have access to good coaches and training facilities,” said Bhutia.
“The coaches will monitor the kids, and the talented youngsters will be given special training. I am also planning to set up academies in West Bengal and Sikkim and these kids will get special training there,” Bhutia said.
