Benitez likely to quit LiverpoolFebruary 22nd, 2009 - 10:15 pm ICT by IANS
London, Feb 22 (IANS) Rafa Benitez’s stay at Liverpool is likely to end after the end of the Premier League season.
The Sunday Mirror reported that Benitez is not willing to work under the club’s new chief executive Rick Parry and has rejected his new contract deal. According to the newspaper, Benitez wanted more control over the transfer policy.
“It has been claimed that Rafa wants full power on transfers, contracts and the academy, but what he really wants is everyone at the club pulling in the same direction,” source close to Benitez was quoted as saying by the newspaper.
“The club is missing out on transfer targets and that contracts for players and staff are not being done because things move too slowly. Rafa had transfer targets lined up in January,” the newspaper said.
