August 16th, 2010 - 5:24 pm ICT by ANI London, Aug 16 (ANI): English footballer David Beckham was upset and baffled after he came to know that his eldest sister was claiming state benefits.
The 35-year-old sports star has always helped provide for 38-year-old sister Lynne, 38.
She is in such awful financial crisis that that she is claiming 164 pounds a week in handouts.
She gets 68 pounds a week in income support alongside 96 pounds weekly tax credits.
She also has a new new live-in boyfriend Colin Every, who has a criminal record for violence.
“David had no idea Lynne was on benefits. He bought her the house she lives in. He has always provided for her and her children,” The Daily Mail quoted a source close to Beckham as saying.
“He has given her money and anything she needs, so he is clearly baffled and really quite upset,” the source added.
Beckham bought Lynne a 250,000-pound four-bedroom home in Romford, Essex, 12 years ago.
She lives there with her children Georgina, 12, Freddie, ten, and Josh, five, from her relationship with Every.
