Becks first football manager wants to coach England for free!
November 28th, 2007 - 4:29 pm ICT by adminLondon, Nov.28 (ANI): DAVID Beckhams first ever football manager has said that he would love to coach the England squad, and get this; he is ready to take on the assignment for free.
“Stuff your PS2m wages - I will do it for free, The Sun quoted coach Stuart Underwood, 70, as saying.
Underwood, who spotted Becks as a potential star of the future at the age of seven, - is one of the coaches the former Manchester United ace says he was scared of.
Beckham told Michael Parkinson on his show that in comparison to Steve McClaren, the England coach who was sacked after the teams defeat to Croatia last week, Stuart would instil fear into his players if they didnt perform.
Football veteran Stuart - who once coached Beckhams team Ridgeway Rovers to 78 wins on the trot - said: If England calls I will happily do the job - and for free. The current England set up is in shambles, and David knows I am the man for the job.
From the squad of youngsters who Stuart trained in Chingford, North East London, six went on to be professionals, including the future England captain Beckham.
Stuart, who now coaches his local club Christchurch FC in Dorset, said: I couldnt do a worse job, could I? The game against Croatia was a shambles, really really bad.
There needs to be a new generation of youngsters who are coached properly from an early age. We need good coaches, not headless ones like McClaren was last Wednesday, he said.
David always had a great work ethic and practised all the time. That is what I would demand. I would have the England team back on track for the World Cup finals. (ANI)
