Beckham wishes to own an MLS teamMarch 9th, 2009 - 4:43 pm ICT by ANI
London, Mar 9 (ANI): David Beckham has expressed an interest in buying his own Major League Soccer (MLS) team.
According to The Sun, Beckham had resolved not to return to the US and had even agreed to pay over two million pounds to avoid Los Angeles Galaxy and stay at Milan for the rest of the season.
However, considering the hazy future of Milan boss Carlo Ancelotti, Beckham is trying to return to the San Siro at the end of the MLS season in October.
The 33-year-old England midfielder has now launched a charm offensive in a bid to win round Galaxy fans.
After the smashing 3-0 home win in Milan over Atlanta yesterday, Beckham issued a statement which said: “I”m really grateful to Los Angeles Galaxy and AC Milan for making this dream deal happen. It allows me to play for AC Milan and LA Galaxy in the same year and, at the same time, to continue my commitment to develop soccer in the United States, which is something I am passionate about.”
“I have the right to own an MLS franchise, which I will action immediately after I have stopped playing football,” he added.
Beckham revealed that his wife Victoria and their three sons would stay in LA, which seems a clear indication he will definitely go back.
He further said that the perfect result for 2009 would be for him to help Milan to reach the Champions League and for the LA Galaxy to make the play-offs and to win the MLS Cup.
Agitated Galaxy fans rushed to message boards yesterday.
Fans” spokesman Mike Barloewen said: “This ”deal” makes me sick. I don”t want to see David in our uniform ever again. This is just stupid.” (ANI)
