Beckham to return to Galaxy next monthJune 1st, 2009 - 1:47 pm ICT by IANS
Los Angeles, June 1 (Xinhua) England international David Beckham will soon be returning to Los Angeles from Italy to rejoin Galaxy.
Beckham played 81 minutes of AC Milan’s last game of the Italian season, helping his team earn a 2-0 road win over Fiorentina in Florence.
Beckham returns to Los Angeles in July to help his club, who have won just one game out of 11 matches in Major League Soccer (MLS) this season, reports local media.
“Now I go back to Los Angeles for the end of the season and then we will we see what happens,” Beckham was quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.
“Still, I hope to come back soon. My thanks go to everybody.”
Beckham told the Los Angeles Times earlier that he expects to be back with the Galaxy by July 11.
It is not clear where the former England captain goes at the end of the MLS season.
“I’m excited about it,” Beckham told The Times.
“I’m really looking forward to it. I’ve been in Milan six months and I’ve enjoyed my time immensely. But I’ve always said, and I always will say, that I am committed to MLS and to the Galaxy, no matter what anyone says.”
Beckham paid “a huge sum” out of his own pocket to stay with AC Milan, and MLS says it received $10 million for the loan extension through the end of the Italian season, The Times reported.
The veteran midfielder has tried to justify playing in Europe, saying he did it to increase his chances of being selected for England’s national team.
