Beating ’smaller teams’ key to ‘giant-killers’ Man City’s title chances, says Tevez

London, Sep 28(ANI): Manchester City captain Carlos Tevez believes that his team must dispatch the ’smaller teams’ in the Premier League to become a genuine title contender.

City defeated league leaders Chelsea 1-0 to end their 100 percent win record on Saturday.

In August the club had even thrashed Liverpool 3-0, but later lost against Sunderland and only managed a draw against Blackburn.

“We always play very well against the big teams, but the important thing now is we concentrate and play the same game against the smaller teams,” The Sun quoted Tevez, as saying.

“If we can do that it will take us to the next level,” he added.

He now feels that City must beat their next opponents Newcastle and Blackpool to capitalize on their Chelsea triumph.

Tevez further said that the Chelsea win was a great result in the battle for the Championship.

“It was really important we won. I like playing against most teams, but seem to make a special mark against Chelsea,” Tevez said.

“We are becoming a strong team and as captain it’s important I give them the strength and spirit to continue this way,” he added. (ANI)
