BCCI to consult lawyers on Bombay High Court’s decision
December 14th, 2010 - 10:02 pm ICT by IANSMumbai, Dec 14 (IANS) The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will be consulting lawyers on its next step on the Bombay High Court ruling Tuesday allowing the Rajasthan Royals to take part in the auction for the fourth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).”I haven’t received the court’s order so can’t comment much on it. But we will consult our lawyers before taking any step,” BCCI secretary N.Srinivasan told IANS.
The Bombay High Court quashed the BCCI termination notice against the Rajasthan Royals. The BCCI Oct 10 decided to terminate the franchise agreement of Rajasthan Royals, along with that of Kings XI Punjab, for alleged breach of agreement by the two franchises.
“It is necessary that the bonafides of the three owners - Emerging Media (IPL) Ltd, Tresco International and Bluewater Estates Ltd - are established. BCCI is entitled to call for full disclosure of ownership under the franchisee agreements,” the court observed.
The court asked Royals to disclose their ownership details. The owners will also have to file an affidavit in the court stating that they are in control of their respective companies.
