Nagpur, Mar 3 (ANI): In the wake of Tuesdays terror attack on the Sri Lankan cricketers in Lahore, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has asked New Zealand Cricket (NZC) to provide additional security to the Indian team.

Indian team is in a 47-days tour of New Zealand.

Addressing the reporters here, BCCI president Shashank Manohar said that he has asked the teams manager Niranjan Shah to take extra precautions regarding the players safety and security.

Manohar condemned the attack and said the International Cricket Council (ICC) should rethink about the 2011 World Cup matches to be held in that country.

I dont think any cricket playing nation will now send its team to Pakistan at least for four to five years, he added.

Pakistan is scheduled to jointly host the 2011 World Cup with India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

At least eight Sri Lankan cricket players were reportedly injured on Tuesday morning when some unidentified persons opened firing at the visitors near the Gaddafi stadium here. (ANI)
