Bayern Munich Berlin, Feb 19 (IANS) Bundesliga football leaders Dortmund narrowly won 1-0 against Berlin through Kevin Grokreutz while former champions Bayern Munich were held to a 0-0 draw by bottom-placed Freiburg.

Monchengladbach took over second position in the table.

Struggling Berlin made life difficult for defending champions Borussia Dortmund. They put up strong resistance until the 66th minute when midfielder Grokreutz slotted home with a overhead kick inside the penalty area to seal the win.

Berlin remained unfazed but were unable to score the equaliser. Dortmund stay on top of the standings with 49 points while Berlin reside in 15th position with 20 points, two points away from a relegation spot.

Bayern Munich lost further ground on the league leaders as they dropped points against last positioned Freiburg.

The first half was a boring affair with the Bavarians unable to breach the Freiburg defence.

In the second half, Bayern found their rhythm, however, they failed to make use of the chances that came their way.

Bayern slipped from second to third position with 45 points whereas Freiburg stay on 18th position with 18 points.
