Besides the NBA, it’s also the trading season for the baseball teams and the latest talk of the town is on Mark DeRosa, of the Cleveland Indians camp who has been recently traded to the St. Louis Cardinals. Chris Perez and a player whose name has not been disclosed yet were released by the cardinals who go to the Cleveland camp.
This 23 year old player had showed his caliber while playing for the Cleveland’s in the last season scoring 47 runs and 50 RBI scoring .270 with 13 home runs. Last winter, DeRosa who was traded from the Chicago Cubs for whom he brought the division title earlier, didn’t contribute much to the Cleveland squad that ended up with the worst record in the American league.
The trading of DeRosa was announced immediately after the Indians lost in a game to Cincinnati. Declaring his reaction over his trading, DeRosa said, “you want to hit the rewind button again. From a selfish standpoint, I get to battle for the division title again and I’m in a good position with a great team.”
This right-handed player who is primarily a second baseman, had played in six positions for the Chicago Cubs. Starting his career from the Bergen Catholic High School in New Jersey, Mark DeRosa’s big break came with Atlanta Braves in 1998 and since then he had played for big clubs namely Texas Rangers, Cubs, Indians and now for the Cardinals making 82 home runs and 815 hits in his career. It is now to see how this baseball athlete contributes to the Cardinals in an attempt to revive his career once again after the poor performance of the last seasons.
