Baroda beat Saurashtra by seven wickets (Ranji Roundup)

New Delhi, Dec 9 (IANS) Baroda registered a sensational seven-wicket win over Saurashtra in two days while the Ranji Trophy Super League match between Bengal and Uttar Pradesh is poised for an exciting and early finish after the second day’s play Wednesday.
Baroda pacers Firdaus Bhaja and Irfan Pathan shared eight wickets to bowl out Saurashtra for 137 runs in the second innings at the Moti Bagh Stadium in Vadodara. Baroda easily achieved the target of 141 runs by losing three wickets after Pathan scored an unbeaten 65.

Saurashtra made 127 in the first innings and bowled out Baorda for 124 as 20 wickets fell on the opening day.

At Kanpur, after being bowled out for a paltry 193 in the first innings, Bengal pacers Ranadeb Bose (5-18) and Sourav Sarkar (3-20) skittled the hosts out for a mere 62 runs at the Green Park. In reply, Bengal’s second innings folded for 104 runs and they set a target of 236 runs for Uttar Pradesh to win.

Uttar Pradesh were 53 for two at stumps and need 183 runs to win the match with three days left.

At Mumbai’s Bandra-Kurla Complex, riding on Subramaniam Badrinath’s classic 250 Tamil Nadu made 501 in the first innings. In reply, Mumbai were 10 for no loss at the close of play.

At Kanpur: Bengal 193 and 104 all out (Laxmi Ratan Shukla 32, Sourav Sarkar 27; Bhuvaneshwar Kumar 5/57). Uttar Pardesh 62 all out (Ranadeb Bose 5-18, Sarkar 3-20) and 53/2.

At Vadodara: Saurashtra 127 and 137. Baroda 124 and 145/3. Baroda won by seven wickets.

At Surat: Gujarat 234 all out. Himachal Pradesh 174/8.

At Hyderabad: Railways 305. Hyderabad 99/2 (Shahsank Nag 51, Anirudh Singh 41 batting).

At Mumbai: Tamil Nadu 501 (Subramaniam Badrinath 250, Chandrasekhar Ganpathy 126). Mumbai 10/0.

At Chandigarh: Orissa 283. Punjab 144/8 (Ravi Inder Singh 46; Basanth Mohanty 4-44, Debashish Mohanty 3-47).

At Delhi: Delhi all out 419 (Mithun Manhas 170, Rajat Bhatia 99; Samad Fallah 5-121, Jitendra Patil 4-113). Maharshtra 163 all out (Jitendra Patil 39; Parvinder Awana 5-40) and 32/1.
