Barcelona’s Messi out of action for a week

The announcement came Thursday.
The European Footballer of the Year suffered a sprained right ankle at the end of Barca’s 2-1 Champions League win away to Dynamo Kiev, when fouled by Kiev defender Leandro Almeida.
Messi, 22, will miss Saturday’s crosstown derby against Espanyol.
Barca are hoping that he will be fit for next week’s Club World Championship.
Messi missed the 2006 Club World Championship because of injury.
