Baisoya leads in boys, Gurbani takes Delhi Junior golf title

New Delhi, July 7 (IANS) Delhi youngster Honey Baisoya playing in Group B moved into overall lead with a third day’s score of 73 and overall 223 after three rounds of the Delhi junior and sub-junior golf at the Jaypee Greens Golf Resort here Thursday.

He was two shots ahead of Group A leader Mysore golfer Yashas Chandra, who is chasing his second title in two weeks.

Among girls, Gurbani Singh took the title in group A with a third round of 79 for a total of 230. She was one shot ahead of Raksha Phadke (79-77-75), who aggregated 231. Astha Madan (237) was third and Vrishali Sinha, who topped Group B, was fourth overall.

Yashas, who was the overall leader at half way mark, also saw his Group A boys lead cut down to two shots as Manu Gandas of the DLF shot the day’s best card of 72 to come into contention after three rounds. Yashas, who won the Chandigarh event last week, carded 77 and is now 225 for 54 holes, while Manu is at 227.

Prakhar Asawa (80) in Group B is third overall at 231, while six golfers, including Piyush Sangwan (75) from Group B and five golfers from Group A Roshan Raj (79), Aman Raj (79) with Kushal Singh (76), Tarak Swamy (77) and Arjun Singh (77), are bunched at 232.

Among Group C boys, Kartik Sharma (75) and Karandeep Kochar (79) are tied for the lead at 240. In Group D boys, Aadil Bedi (84-82) led Karan Pratap Singh (84-86) by four shots.

Vrishali Sinha (79-83-79) was the winner at 241 while Ridhima Dilwari (85-82-78) was second at 245 in girls Group B. Seher Atwal (251) and Vidushi Sinha (252) were third and fourth.

In Group C, Amrita Anand (84-76-75) was the winner of the title at 235 and Suchitra Ramesh was second at 263. In Group D girls, Arshia Mahant and Tanishka Kumar were tied at the top at 18.
