Sydney, Dec 3 (IANS) Sam Loxton, who was part of the Australian 1948 Invincibles cricket team, passed away aged 90 early Saturday morning in Queensland.

Loxton’s death leaves only Neil Harvey and teammate Arthur Morris as the only two surviving members of Don Bradman’s great 1948 side that toured England without losing a single match.

An all-rounder, Loxton could only represent Australia in 12 Tests as he did not get many chances due to the presence of legendary Keith Miller.

Loxton’s Test career finished after the 1950-1951 Ashes series, but he continued to play first-class cricket with Victoria until 1958. He was active in politics after cricket, and was also a Test selector between 1972 and 1981.
