Bangalore, Mar. 12 (ANI): Australia’s cricket captain, Ricky Ponting, on Saturday said his team was not too bothered by the twists and turns in the ongoing World Cup, and was only focused on giving a good game to all opponents.

Addressing a press conference ahead of Australia’s match against Kenya to be played here on Sunday, Ponting said: “Look, we won’t take any game lightly. We are going to go out and play the best cricket we can. We know we have got Kenya, Canada and Pakistan just around the corner then we have got quarterfinals and semifinals. We haven’t played a great deal of cricket yet in the tournament. So, it’s all about now, about us getting our way right into the business end of the tournament. So, that means we go out tomorrow and play best kind of cricket we possibly can.”

Ponting hoped that the wicket would not change during the course of the match.

“We have played two practice games here at the start of the tournament. Wickets weren’t great, but obviously I had a quick look at the wicket coming across the ground now. I believe that is the same one that Ireland and England used and that looked like a particularly good wicket. So, this is a great place to play, I really liked playing in Bangalore and it is a great stadium. There’ve been high scores made here in the tournament so far. Look out for me tomorrow, my batter’s point of view, we can make another big score. I think wicket is probably what may win, that remains pretty much the same all through the course of the game,” he said.

Australia is placed in Group A in the ICC World Cup with Zimbabwe, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, Canada and Kenya. (ANI)
