alexJuly 15, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The infielder of Toronto Blue Jays Alex Gonzalez is all set to join Atlanta Braves. Latest reports claim that the two teams have gone for infielder swaps that sent Yunel Escobar to the Toronto Blue Jays. The Atlanta Braves not only parted with Yunel Escobar but also with left-handed pitcher Jo-Jo Reyes. However, in return the team acquired left-handed minor-league pitcher Tim Collins and minor-league shortstop Tyler Pastornicky.

Alex Gonzalez had played a major role in the team of Toronto Blue Jays and according to many analysts the veteran shortstop will add to the credential of the Atlanta Braves who have already been leading the National League East. There is no doubt about the fact that the career recorded of the player hints about his worth as a shortstop. 33-year-old Alex Gonzalez has been hitting 0.259 with 17 homers and 50 RBIS. Apart from it the player with his 43 extra-base hits is tied for fifth in the American League.

On the other hand the Atlanta Braves parted with Yunel Escobar whose last season has not been impressive enough. The 27-year-old shortstop is hitting 0.238 and has failed to hit a homer. Against the 50 RBIs of Alex Gonzalez, Yunel Escobar has managed only 19 RBIs. However, many analysts are still doubt the benefit the Atlanta Braves team will reap from the inclusion of Alex Gonzalez in the team. According to some 27-year-old Yunel Escobar is still left with a hoard of unexplored potential that he might explore in his new team. Last year the player had hit 0.299 with career-best totals of 76 RBIs and 14 homers.
