Athletico Madrid sign Uruguayan winger Rodriguez
May 29th, 2012 - 5:06 pm ICT by IANSMadrid, May 29 (IANS) Europa winners Atletico Madrid roped in Uruguayan international winger, Cristian Gabriel Rodriguez as their first signing for the 2012-2013 season.
The Spanish club has reached an agreement with the Uruguayan to join on a four-year contract, Xinhua reported.
Rodriguez arrives on a free transfer from Portuguese side Porto and will sign his contract after playing 2014 World Cup qualification games for his country against Venezuela and Peru.
The 26-year-old, who has an Italian passport, spent the past four seasons with Porto and has also played for Benfica and Paris Saint Germain.
Atletico Madrid’s Sporting Director, Jose Luis Perez Caminero described him as “a very fast player, who is attacking in style and with a lot of personality”.
