New Delhi, June 23 (IANS) Athlete Naunidh Singh, a former national record holder in the 110 metres hurdles, died in a road accident in Amritsar, Sunday.
According to reports received here Tuesday, Naunidh, 25, was returning home with his father after buying medicines for his ailing son when he met with an accident. His father survived the mishap.
The athlete was employed with the Border Security Force (BSF) and had set the national record of 14.05 seconds at the National Championships in Hyderabad in 2007.
Last year, he finished third at the National Open Championships in Kochi.
As a junior athlete, Naunidh also had set a national record of 14.12 secs in Bangalore in 2003. He had also represented India in the World Junior Championship in Kingston, Jamaica in 2002.
