Aston Villa star Milner eager to join Manchester City
July 23rd, 2010 - 1:31 pm ICT by ANILondon, July 23(ANI): Aston Villa midfielder James Milner has told his manager Martin O’Neill that he wants to leave the club and join Manchester City.
“I had a chat with James before the World Cup and he initimated he would like to go,” The Sun quoted O’Neill, as saying.
“I haven’t spoken to him since. I know there have been conversations with his agent and our chief executive,” he added.
O’Neill, who rejected a 20 million pound bid for Milner in May, believes that the saga will be resolved when the 24-year-old returns for pre-season training on Monday.
“There is a difference in valuation and a question mark over the player, but I’m sure things will get resolved one way or the other in the near future. James is due back next week after an extended stay after the World Cup,” O’Neill said.
According to reports, Manchester City are set to make a 24 million pound ‘take-it-or-leave-it’ bid for the midfielder.
O’Neill confirmed the offer, but decline to reveal any details.
“Manchester City have made an offer for the player. The valuation has not been reached at this minute,” he added. (ANI)
