Guangzhou, Nov 17 (IANS) India’s Chandrakant Dadu Mali and Monika Laishram Devi fell short in a strong weightlifting field at the Donguan Gymnasium Wednesday, finishing 10th and seventh in their respective categories at the Asian Games here Wednesday.

Mali lifted an overall 309kg in the men’s 85kg to finish in the bottom three.

Yong Lu of China (376kg) and Mansurbek Chashemov of Uzbekistan (372kg) won the gold and silver. The bronze went to South Korean Kwang Hoon Kim (369kg).

In the women’s 69kg section, Monika, too, never looked like getting a medal. She came last out of the seven contestants.
