Ashley Wagner Wins Bronze At 2010 US Figure Skating Championships

ashkleySpokane, Washington, Jan 24, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Ashley Wagner grabbed the bronze medal at the 2010 US Figure Skating Championships and displayed a scintillating performance at the much anticipated event, which was held on Saturday night. The 18 year old much acclaimed skater registered the fourth position in the short program and at the same time delivered a stunning performance in the free skate, which enabled her to notch the bronze medal.

Anticipation was running high regarding Ashley Wagner’s performance in the U.S championship as this season witnessed her showcase an impressive performance. The teenager earned accolades for herself as she was the only American to have qualified in the Grand Prix Final and also managed to finish fourth in the short program. Although, Ashley Wagner failed to grab the gold medal and win the championship, she surely delivered a performance that was appreciated by the audiences.

A lot was at stake at the 2010 US Figure Skating Championships as it would decide the two final contestants who would be registering their position in the 2010 Winter Olympics at Vancouver.

Rachael Flatt, who won the championship by winning the gold medal is going to be one of the skaters in the U.S. Olympic team participating in the upcoming Vancouver Olympics. However, the decision is yet to be taken by a nine member selection committee regarding the skater who would be joining the gold medalist in the upcoming championship. Although chances are high that second position finisher Mirai Nagasu might grab the much coveted spot, it is being widely speculated that Ashley Wagner might be the one picked by the selection committee.
