Art Schlichter Lands In Sports Ticket Scam

Art SchlichterFeb 9, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Former Ohio State star Art Schlichter has once again landed himself in a legal soup after he was recently accused of being part of sports ticket scam. Investigations are ongoing regarding the fraud, which supposedly has millions of dollars involved in the scam. According to several media reports, Art Schlichter has played a vital role in trapping various people in the ticket fraud, having a Dublin woman named Anita Barney as his aide.

It is being said that the former quarterback along with Anita Barney, whose husband is the co-founder of he Wendy’s restaurant chain had allegedly promised many sports lovers access to various Ohio State athletic events and several other hi-profile events like the Super Bowl, which never happened in real while the money from them had already been extracted by these two. A sources divulged that Anita Barney has at least six lawsuits filed against her, all related to fraud and forgery scams. An insider related to the investigations said that the lady took money from many after giving them false hopes for tickets to the Ohio State-Michigan game and the recent Super Bowl finale.

This however is not Art Schlichter’s first tryst with the law. Earlier he had legal brushes which even made him face the grave consequence of prison sentence. Previously he had accepted of his gambling addiction something that got him suspended from the NFL in 1983. Between 1994 and 2006 Art Schlichter spent serving prison sentence in 44 jails and prisons all across the nation. Anita Barney’s lawyer, however, on a defending note for his client said that she had become a part of the crime even without indulging in it, but for the fact that she had sympathized with Art Schlichter’s gambling problem.
