London, Apr.15 (ANI): Arsenal’s bid for the 2009-10 Premier League title is dead, said Gunners coach Arsene Wenger on Wednesday night after his side lost two goals to one against Tottenham Hotspurs.
Wenger threw in the towel after 19-year-old wonder striker Danny Rose ensured a dramatic Tottenham derby win.
The midfielder blasted home a stunning, 30-yard volley just 10 minutes into his league debut.
Later, a 47th-minute Gareth Bale goal left Arsenal six points behind Chelsea with four games to go.
“There is too much to do to win the title. We are very unlikely to win it. We lost a game we couldn’t afford to lose in the title race and that shows we are not mature enough. If you want to win the title, this is the kind of game you can’t lose,” The Sun quoted Wenger, as saying.
“We will continue to fight. You never know. But even a point would not have been good enough,” he added.
Spurs chief Harry Redknapp said the victory has given his side a big chance of pipping Manchester City to the fourth Champions League spot. (ANI)
