Nurburgring (Germany), July 4 (IANS) Armaan Ebrahim’s campaign in the Formula 2 championship remained grounded on six points as he drew blank in rounds seven and eight here over the weekend when he finished 15th and 13th, respectively.

An internal crack in the exhaust system dashed the 22-year-old Armaan’s hopes of a top-10 finish that was very much on the cards after he posted the third quickest time in Friday’s Free Practice session.

Armaan, sponsored by JK Tyre, Amaron and Trimex, said the defect in the exhaust system that caused a drop in power, was detected only Sunday.

He had qualified 15th for Saturday’s race and 18th for the second outing the following day when he drove well enough to carve his way to 13th.

Armaan has six points from the seventh place finish in the second round at Silverstone in April.

“I am obviously very disappointed at the way the weekend rolled out. On Friday, my prospects looked good when I was the third quickest in the opening free practice session, but thereafter, nothing went right for me,” Armaan said.

“For Saturday’s qualifying, I ran on old tyres and then dropped a place in the race to finish 15th. The exhaust cracked internally and it affected the turbo. We discovered the crack that was widening all the time only on Sunday.”

“I managed to make some places in the second race to move from 18th to 13th, but overall, I was not happy that I came away without scoring any points,” said Armaan whose next races are at Brands Hatch, England, where rounds nine and 10 are scheduled for July 22-24.
