Arjun Atwal Lifts Wyndham Championship Trophy, Becomes First Indian To Win US PGA Tour

pgaGreensboro, North Carolina, Aug 23, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Indian professional golfer Arjun Atwal made history on Sunday when he clinched victory at the Wyndham Championship by delivering a three-under par 67 during the final round of the event which was held at Greensboro in the state of North Carolina. The win that was reserved by the 37-year-old golfer was indeed significant as he is the first Indian to win a US PGA tour.

Understandably, following his triumph, the ace golfer seemed overwhelmed with happiness as he divulged to the media that he did not have words to express what he was feeling. Arjun Atwal who commenced his feat on Sunday’s round with a three-shot lead and ultimately emerged victorious after he was able to sink a putt in the final hole. Although the Indian golfer was able to win as many as Asian tout titles as well as three European titles, this was the first time in his career that the ace golfer was able to taste victory in the US PGA tour. Moreover, his triumph at the Wyndham Championship was all the more momentous for the golf player as it earned him his card for the PGA tour for the remaining part of this year as well as upcoming two years.

The Orlando-based pro golfer told the media later that although he had begun Sunday’s win with a lead of three-shot, he still had doubts about whether he would be able to stay in control of the game. However, Arjun Atwal went on to showcase an extremely steady performance which guaranteed his triumph.
