kerryNew York, Mar 7, (THAINDIAN NEWS) New York Jets safety Kerry Rhodes was acquired by the Arizona Cardinals on Saturday for this year’s fourth round pick and a seventh round pick in 2011. Kerry Rhodes would be filling up the position in the Arizona Cardinals, left vacant by Pro Bowler Antrel Rolle, who was signed as a free agent for the New York Giants the previous day.

The news that the talented safety was picked up by the Arizona Cardinals was confirmed by the team’s head coach Ken Whisenhunt, who released a statement in which he implied that Kerry Rhodes fits into the team perfectly. At the same time, the head coach acknowledged that the Cardinals really needed to fill in the safety position. Given the fact that the team was able to acquire a player as talented as Kerry Rhodes so quickly, was indeed a positive development for the Cardinals. Moreover, Ken Whisenhunt also added that the prospect of Kerry Rhodes playing along with an all-pro like Adrian Wilson for the Arizona Cardinals was immensely exciting for the team as well as its fans.

Meanwhile, Kerry Rhodes being traded to the Cardinals by New York Jets does not come as a huge surprise as the player had expressed earlier that he might be wanted in some other team after he had a disagreement with Rex Ryan’s coaching staff. The 27 year old safety was drafted to the New York Jets in the fourth round of the 2005 NFL Draft and during his association with the team, he displayed impressive performances in many occasions, especially during the 2006 and the 2007 season.
