kneeNew York, Mar 12, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The senior center forward of the Syracuse Orange basketball team, Arinze Onuaku, went down with a knee injury in the last few minutes left in the game against Georgetown in the Big East Conference. The game was being held in the Madison Square Gardens. It resulted in Orange losing the game to Georgetown 91-84, dashing their hopes of making it to the top of the tournament. The loss came heavy, as the team was doing pretty well for themselves, having won over the Georgetown basketball team in the last two games. However, even more anxiety brewing than the loss was Arinze Onuaku’s injury, as he is considered to be one of the top players of the team.

Arinze Onuaku suffered the injury with just about 5 minutes and 7 seconds left in the game. It occurred as he attempted to take a rebound, bypassing Greg Munroe, the center forward of Georgetown. As he fell on his knees on the floor, it was evident that this game was over as far as he was concerned. For a while he was seen writhing on the floor, evidently in great pain, but later he was helped to the locker room by the paramedics team.

After performing X-Rays on the player, Dr. Irving Raphael seemed optimistic about the condition of the injury. He commented that though the player is likely to be in great pain, the reports show that there are no broken bones, and that the kneecap, thigh bone and knee joint did not show any signs of wear and tear. The condition of the muscles and ligaments are not known. Arinze Onuaku has been prescribed crutches and ice packs for some time.
