Argentina’s Tevez named Man of the Match
June 28th, 2010 - 3:48 am ICT by IANSJohannesburg, June 28 (DPA) Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez was named FIFA Man of the Match after scoring a brace in Argentina’s 3-1 win over Mexico in Johannesburg Sunday.
His first goal should have been disallowed as Tevez headed in the goal in a clear off-side position.
But his second was a beauty - an unstoppable rifle from the edge of the box that flew straight into goal.
Tevez was given a standing ovation from the 84,000 fans filling Johannesburg’s Soccer City Stadium when Argentina coach Diego Maradona substituted him with Juan Sebastian Veron in the 69th minute.
