Sacramento, Sept 27 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Officials at Sacramento are determined to keep the Kings NBA franchise in the city. NBA officials told the Sacramento Kings team that they have to either have a new arena or move the team from the city. The bosses of the franchise were all for the moving but the mayor of the city is not ready to let that happen.

On the 8th of September, Mayor Kevin Johnson unveiled the Think Big Sacramento committee who are expected to come up with a plan to fund the construction of the new arena which is expected to cost $387 million.

The committee members met with the city council on the 13th of September where they discussed the next step. Sacramento City Manager John Shirey told reporters that, “We have a lot of work to do in the next six months and we need both internal and external resources to do it.”

Shirey admits that the task will not be easy and is looking up to the state and federal officials to come to the aid of the city in the bid to put up the arena.

Experts say the initial estimate for the arena will change as the project progresses. More than 4,000 jobs are expected to be created if the project is successful.
