Are 13 NBA referees involved in a betting scandal?

New York, Nov 27 (THAINDIAN NEWS) There was the infamous NBA’s 2008 betting scandal, in which the former NBA referee Tim Donaghy and his associate, former professional gambler Jimmy “The Sheep” Battista were convicted. All the details were not available to the media, but it is learned that there are more referees involved in a betting scandal. Around 13 referees are said to be involved.

The NBA referee gambling scandal has been brought back into focus when a source indicated that 13 NBA officials had contact with a reputed gambler, according to a report by WHDH-TV on Wednesday night.

The source says that the convicted Battista showed him ample proof in the form of phone records and game notes confirming the names of all 13 referees involved in the scandal.

Battista had pleaded guilty to conspiracy to divulge wagering information in connection with Donaghy and for this crime he also served 15 months in federal prison.

The former professional gambler is currently planning a tell-all book deal and does not plan to share more details until just before the book is released.

The source also released other details that according to Battista, the first game the two men worked on together was the Celtics-76ers game the following night, which was a game that the convicted Donaghy officiated and one the Celtics covered with ease.
