Apolo Anton Ohno Disqualified In Friday’s 500-Meter Final

apolo1Vancouver, Canada, Feb 27, (THAINDIAN NEWS) On Friday night, in the 500 meters race at the Winter Olympics at Vancouver, Apolo Anton Ohno was disqualified. On that night, Apolo Anton Ohno finished 2nd but, he was disqualified when the race was reviewed. According to the review, Apolo Anton Ohno seemed to have pushed Francois-Louis Tremblay of Canada causing both Francois-Louis Tremblay and Sung Si-Bak from South Korean to fall during the final turn.

At the event, Charles Hamelin of Canada successfully grabbed the much coveted gold while Sung Si-Bak from South Korea got the silver and Francois-Louis Tremblay of Canada got bronze. It is sad for Apolo Anton Ohno that he could not add another medal to his collection from this race. He is often referred as the “most decorated,” American of the Winter Olympics.

According to sources, Apolo Anton Ohno reportedly said he had no intention of pushing anyone. He apparently revealed he just lost his balance and was trying to regain his position. He said, “I was looking for space,” but “there was none.” He even added, he had no clue why he was disqualified since he was in the 4th position throughout the race. He said he is happy about the way he skated. Apolo Anton Ohno further added he has no regrets. Though he was disqualified in the 500 meters race, Apolo Anton Ohno proved himself in the men’s 5,000-meter relay. He added the 8th medal to his collection. His win also added another bronze medal for his country, which is leading so far in the Vancouver Winter Olympics.
