Anwesha packs off Fialova in PSA Challenger squash
October 7th, 2009 - 10:02 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Chennai, Oct 7 (IANS) India’s Harinder Pal Singh Sandhu, a wild card entry, along with qualifiers Gaurav Nandrajog and Naresh Kumar, bowed out of the PSA Challenger No.4 squash tournament, here Wednesday.
Third-seeded Mathieu Castagnet of France overcame a 0-2 deficit to beat Sandhu 7-11, 8-11, 11-7, 11-7,12-10 in the first round of the main draw while Nandrajog lost to seventh seeded Mazen Gamal of Egypt and Naresh Kumar went down to eighth seeded Shamsul Islam Khan of Pakistan.
In the WISP women’s event being held simultaneously, unseeded Anwesha Reddy of India knocked out seventh seeded Lucie Fialova of Czech Republic at 11-9, 5-11, 11-6, 8-11,11-5 in 40 minutes.
However, Anaka Alankamony made her exit, losing to the experienced Elise Ng of Hong Kong, who is ranked four and is at 46 in WISPA rankings.
Meanwhile, Joshna Chinappa and Dipika Pallikal provided more cheer to the home crowd by moving into the second round.
