Angolan rebels warn of more attacks on Premier League players

London, Jan 10 (ANI): English Premier League stars participating in the Africa Cup fear for their lives after being warned by the Angolan rebels that they are on the list of terror targets.
The gunmen who killed three members of the Togo team, made it clear they will step up their terror campaign. And players like Didier Drogba, Michael Essien and Kolo Toure, whose teams are due to play in Cabinda, could all be high-profile targets.
A spokesman for the Front for the Liberation of Enclave of Cabinda (FLEC) said: “We are at war and in a war anything goes.”
Manchester City confirmed Adebayor would be flying out and it is believed the squad were heading back to Togo before returning home, News of the World reports.
City spokesman Simon Heggies said: “Emmanuel is on his way back from Angola but we are not sure exactly where his flight is headed. We’ve spoken to his advisors and he’s coming home. ”
Two members of the Togo party, an assistant coach and a team spokesperson, were killed as well as their driver in the incident on Friday.
Despite the huge fears for players’ safety, Arsene Wenger claimed he would not be demanding the return of his Arsenal players, including the Ivory Coast’s Emmanuel Eboue.
Everton boss David Moyes said: “The club have contacted Joeph Yobo and Yakubu and they are okay but there is an obvious concern for football as a whole and not just the African Nations Cup.
“It’s a really good point that Arsene makes that we shouldn’t give in to terrorism. But it is a concern, with the World Cup coming up in the summer,” he added. (ANI)
