Angola to train in Brazil for Cup of African Nations
December 18th, 2011 - 4:45 pm ICT by IANSLuanda (Angola), Dec 18 (IANS) Angola’s national football team has planned a training stint in Brazil to prepare for the Cup of African Nations in 2012 (CAN 2012) to be co-hosted by Gabon and Equatorial Guinea from Jan 21.
Angolan head coach Lito Vidigal said his players were waiting for a green-light from the Angolan Football Federation (FAF) about the programme in Brazil, Xinhua reported.
Vidigal said his team was doing a good job in the first stage of preparation in the northern Cabinda province.
The proposed training program, if agreed by the FAF, would take place from Jan 6 to 19, as the last stage of preparation for CAN 2012.
Angola is in Group B of the CAN 2012 with Burkina Faso, Sudan and Cote d’Ivoire based in Malabo, capital of Equatorial Guinea.
Vidigal expressed satisfaction with his players’ performance despite a nil-nil draw with Cameroon earlier this week in a friendly match in Cabinda.
The Angolan team also planned to play a friendly with Zambia Dec 18 in Angola’s Lunda-Norte province, and with Namibia Dec 21 in the southern Huila province.
“We have two more training sessions, we have given some more information to the players, analysed the previous game, found some stuff that must be improved, and I believe that slowly the players are improving,” Vidigal said.
