giantCalifornia, Feb 2, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Fishermen in the Orange County are spending late nights in the waters off the Newport Beach, trying to haul a good catch consisting of the giant squid that have suddenly made an invasion in the area. The clamor for the creature is not surprising, considering that it is going to make for an unusual catch for the fishermen. The giant squid that have been caught measure up to 4 feet in length, and some of them weigh up to about 60 pounds. About 400 of the giant squid have been caught so far, ever since they were first spotted.

The squid were first caught by the fishermen on Thursday. On the night of Friday, fishermen embarked on expeditions to catch the squid. It was necessary to make the expeditions at night as the giant squid are nocturnal creatures, and are known to be close to the ocean ground during the day and only rise to the surface of the sea at night. It also becomes rather difficult to catch the giant squids owing to their migratory habits. Unlike other migrating creatures, the giant squid generally follow a certain food source, instead of a season.

The anglers have signed up with the Newport Landing Sportfishing in order to catch the giant squid. According to the manager of the establishment, Robert Woodbury, two types of anglers have signed up, one for commercial purposes, and the other mainly for a good sport. On the other hand, the fishermen have declared that they would be going out on the expeditions as long as the squids continue to haunt the area.
