angelsOct.23 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Angels won the game against the Yankees 7-6 on Oct.22. Brian Fuentes earned the save. He purposefully walked to Alex Rodriguez, with two outs. He followed it up by the walk to Hideki Matsui. Then, he got Robinson Cano out of the game by hitting him on the pitch. The win saved the Angels from being ousted from the American League Championship Series.

The game was a spectacular one. The Yankees looked destined to win, until the match turned the tables towards the Angels. When they were seven runs away from winning the game, the Los Angeles Angels lost the lead for four runs. It seemed that they would not be able to win the game, until the game turned again, and the Yankees gave back the lead. They were only seven outs away from their fortieth pennant. If they had not given back the lead, they might as well have won the game.

The Angels started the game wit A.J. Burnett on Thursday. They got a four run lead in the first innings. Unfortunately, they lost the lead when John Lackey was replaced by Darren Oliver in the seventh innings. The Yankees got a blazing lead by scoring six runs, while they had not yet made single score till then. Fuentes got ahead of Nick Swisher by 0-2, but a foul tip helped Swisher stay alive.

The Angels team was led by Jeff Mathis. Jeff delivered three hits and also set a new record in the team for scoring six hits consecutively in post season matches. The win means that they will be playing in the Yankee Stadium in New York on Saturday.
