Dec 1, (THAINDIAN NEWS) There is some piece of good news for Andre Johnson fans. The Houston Texans wide receiver who was evicted from Sunday’s game between the Houston Texans and the Tennessee Titans, following his brawl with the rival team’s corner back Cortland Finnegan will not be subjected to suspension from the National Football League. Both he and Cortland Finnegan has been fined $25,000 for their un-sportsman like behavior on the field. The news was confirmed on Tuesday.
Sunday’s game saw the Houston Texans winning the match by a score of 20-0 but at the same time the team got heavily affected as their wide receiver Andre Johnson indulged himself in an ugly fight with Cortland Finnegan of the opponent team. The rather infamous incident took place when Cortland Finnegan had hit the former on his face mask and had reportedly tried to pull it out to which Andre Johnson reacted vigorously. He went on to pull out Cortland Finnegan’s helmet and then installed few punches on him in his neck and face. This miserable conduct of the players had compelled the match referee to dismiss both the players from the game. Andre Johnson and Houston Texans’ ardent followers had a good reason to worry as the ugly conduct had made Andre Johnson vulnerable to suspension.
The Houston Texans wide receiver had later on apologized for his conduct saying that all those took place in a fit of rage without any real intention and that what happened shouldn’t have really occurred. He had also said that authorities should punish him for the act but he does not want to suffer suspension. Undoubtedly, this time the player has saved his skin by taking up the wise decision to apologize.
