Aug 8, (THAINDIAN NEWS) History once again repeated itself on Saturday night when Anderson Silva wore proudly the title of mixed martial arts champion at the Ultimate Fighter Championship 117 after having a dramatic win over Chael Sonnen. The Anderson Silva Vs Chael Sonnen fight no doubt turned out to be one of the most dramatic bouts that have been witnessed by the UFC fans in recent times. While at the beginning of the game, Anderson Silva seemed to be at the losing end with Chael Sonnen coming forward with some great moves and punches, luck turned in favor of the former towards the end of the fifth round demanding a tap from Chael Sonnen.
In the first four rounds of the Anderson Silva Vs Chael Sonnen fight, it was the latter who got the upper hand. He not only beat Anderson Silva red and blue with his powerful punches but also took down on him early on each round. At some point it apparently seemed that referee Josh Rosenthal was on a verge of stopping the bout. However, it was the fifth round of the game that made all the difference. Anderson Silva who was far behind on the scorecard came up with some aggressive moves but Chael Sonnen went for another take down but this time before the latter could manage a submission, the former slipped on to the deadly triangle move around 110 seconds away from the end of the fifth round. The brilliant triangle choke over Chael Sonnen left him with no other option than to surrender at 3:10 of the fifth round.
Anderson Silva’s win made him the longest reigning champion in the franchisee’s history. It was the 12th bout in a row that was won by Anderson Silva who is holding the title since October 2006.
