Anderson credits bowling coach Saker for successful Ashes campaign
December 31st, 2010 - 5:48 pm ICT by ANISydney, Dec 31(ANI): England fast bowler James Anderson has credited bowling coach David Saker for the success of the tourists in the ongoing Ashes series against Australia.
“It’s been really useful to have his experience and knowledge of Australian conditions and he’s been brilliant from the moment he joined us six, seven months ago,” ABC Sport quoted Anderson, as saying.
“He should take a lot of credit for the help he’s given the bowling attack and I’m sure it’ll continue into the rest of the tour,” he added.
Saker was appointed bowling coach for England earlier this year after a stint as assistant coach to Greg Shipperd with Victoria, and previously with Tasmania.
In the eyes of the England and Wales Cricket Board, Saker’s eight years as a specialist coach in Australian domestic cricket were more valuable than the extensive international experience of other applicants, including South African Allan Donald and Australian Craig McDermott.
England currently leads the five-match series 2-1, with the final Test to be played in Sydney from January 2. (ANI)
