London, Mar 19 (ANI): Carlo Ancelotti, who dumped Manchester United out of the Champions League at AC Milan four years ago, now plans to repeat the feat with Chelsea.
Chelsea will play United in the quarterfinal of the Champions league.
Ancelotti said: “Winning the second leg 3-0 in the San Siro to win 5-2 on aggregate was one of my greatest achievements as a coach. It was a fantastic evening for Milan and a bad one for Manchester.”
“They were surprised by the way we started that game but it was a tie that was always in the balance,” The Sun quoted him, as saying.
That season saw Milan go on to win the Champions League by beating Liverpool in the final in Athens.
Now the task for Ancelotti is to become the first Chelsea boss to lift the European Cup and fulfill owner Roman Abramovich’s greatest ambition.
“Winning the Champions League is not an obsession for Chelsea, it is a dream. At Milan the Champions League was the most important thing every year. We didn’t focus on winning Serie A,” Ancelotti said.
“Losing to Inter Milan last year was a bad moment for everyone at Chelsea. Now we have to see if we deserve to be in the semis again,” he added.
Ancelotti is looking forward to renewing his rivalry with United boss Sir Alex Ferguson.
He said: “I am always happy to play against United because you know it will be a fantastic game with fair play.” (ANI)
