Ancelotti says feeling the heat to save his Blues job
December 6th, 2010 - 12:18 pm ICT by ANILondon, Dec.6 (ANI): Italian-born coach-cum-manager Carlo Ancelotti has admitted for the first time he is feeling the strain of trying to save his job at Chelsea FC.Champions Chelsea has tumbled from the top to third position in the Premier League after a depressing run of just one win in six games.
The Blues boss accepts his future could now be on the line after the club’s worst run of results for 10 years.
Asked how he felt after Saturday’s 1-1 draw with struggling Everton, he replied: “Not good, not good at this moment. I’m not relaxed, I don’t sleep well.”
“It’s not my decision. It’s the decision of the club. Usually when you have a difficult moment you want to find out who is to blame. But we don’t have to search to find out who is guilty,” The Sun quoted Ancelotti added.
He said that he blamed his under-performing players for the club’s present mess, saying that they were responsible for managing just five points out of a possible 18.
His record over the last six Premier League games is easily the worst of any of the six bosses who have worked for Roman Abramovich in their final matches for the club.
Avram Grant was shown the door even with a win percentage of 67 per cent over his last six Premier League games, and a penalty away from winning the Champions League.
Ancelotti insisted: “The problem is on the field, not the bench.”
Emphatically stating that he was no quitter, Ancelotti said that he is determined to put things right.
“I maintain confidence in my players. I maintain trust but it’s not a good moment - not for them or for myself. We still have the time to come back and play our football, to be competitive in the league and in the Champions League,” he said. (ANI)
