Ancelotti says Chelsea must lift game to have chance of winning Champions League
November 24th, 2010 - 6:57 pm ICT by ANILondon, Nov 24(ANI): Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti admits that his club must improve on their performance against MSK Zilina if they want to win the UEFA Champions League.
Chelsea maintained their 100 per cent record in Group F by beating Zilina 2-1 on Tuesday night, but failed to impress at Stamford Bridge.
“If we play like in the first half, it’s impossible to win it. Second half, then we’ll have a chance,” the Sun quoted Ancelotti, as saying.
Chelsea were forced to come from behind after conceding a shock early goal to the Slovakian minnows, second-half goals from Daniel Sturridge and Florent Malouda eventually clinching first place in Group F for Ancelotti’s men.
“It was a difficult game. We didn’t start well and were 1-0 down. We had a good reaction in the second half, with more intensity, good play and plenty of opportunities to score,” Ancelotti said.
“I was upset because we didn’t play well. We changed something in the second half, changed the intensity of play. This was the difference,” he added. (ANI)
