London, Feb 3 (ANI): Chelsea coach Carlo Ancelotti has refused to blame the John Terry affair as the club blew the chance to go four points clear at the top of the Premier League.
The troubled England captain was taunted mercilessly as Chelsea was held by struggling Hull.
Ancelotti said: “We were not distracted by this matter. Nothing can disturb our concentration in this competition.”
“This team is focused in every game we play. Our concentration is always at the very top level. For John Terry nothing has changed. He continues to play a very good game. He lives in a very good moment,” The Sun quoted him, as saying.
Ancelotti is prepared to let Terry miss next week’s FA Cup fifth-round clash with Cardiff if the player wants a break with his wife in Dubai.
“That is an issue for me and John Terry. It is not your problem. You will know when you see our line-up against Cardiff. If he needs a holiday I will give him one. If not, he’ll play,” he said.
Despite dropping two points, Ancelotti insisted: “It is a good result for us. We were not at our best but Hull played very well and put us under a lot of pressure. Sometimes it can happen that you draw against the smaller teams.”
Hull boss Phil Brown insisted: “It was never our plan to get at John Terry. He is a great leader and a great captain and tonight he did his job under very adverse conditions.
“The whole circus surrounding this situation made it very interesting tonight but once a footballer crosses the white line he forgets all his troubles.” (ANI)
