An incentive for top three in JK Junior Cup racing

Chennai, April 15 (IANS) The sixth JK Tyre Junior Cup, comprising four rounds of 12 races, will be held here over two consecutive weekends beginning April 16-17.

The top three finishers in the championship restricted to competitors in the age group of 15-24 years and who have not raced or won a race in the last two years, will earn a drive in the Formula LGG Swift Class in the JK Tyre National Racing Championship later this year.

The Junior Cup serves as an entry-level event for young enthusiasts for a fee of Rs 8,000 per race and they will be driving the Formula Maruti (800cc) single-seater cars.

Sanjay Sharma, Head, Motorsports, JK Tyre & Industries Ltd, said: “At JK Tyre, we have been relentlessly working to make motorsports affordable for the Indian masses.

“Our Junior Cup programme is one such initiative where we promote budding racing enthusiasts at a very insignificant cost.

“On our request, the tuners have reduced the entry fees per race to Rs 8,000 as compared to Rs 15,000 last season. The top three winners get sponsored drives in the JK Tyre National Racing Championship.

“Now with our recent launch of the JK Racing Asia Series, the opportunities for the youngsters have increased and they can look forward to displaying their talent at an international level.”

The popular two-wheeler event under the TVS Race-a-bike scheme will be run concurrently.
