Augusta, Georgia, Apr 12, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Amy Mickelson, the wife of a golfer Phil Mickelson was suffering from cancer since last year. She could not come to the Masters tournament 2010 regularly to see her spouse playing and making his way to victory. However, she braved the weaknesses and came to the Augusta National Golf Club where her husband made a striking win. This is in complete contrast to Tiger Woods’ wife, Elin Nordegren not making an appearance most likely because she did not want to face her erring husband in full public view.

After the victory, Phil Mickelson went to meet his wife and kids at the runway. He did not have an idea that his wife would be waiting there, but he was delighted to see her. Amy Mickelson was quite weak and she could not go ahead and greet her husband down the green. They hugged each other for a long time and tears of happiness rolled down their cheeks. They did not talk much but their expression and emotion were palpable. The golfer said that his wife turned out to be a fighter and she battled cancer vigorously. He also said that despite her illness she continues to be the inspiration behind his performance and she has always stood by him.

The Mickelson family passed through hard times for the past one year. Amy Mickelson was diagnosed with fatal breast cancer last year. The long term prognosis for her is good though. The treatment has yielded results for the lady and she is in better shape now. However, the family had to make a lot of adjustments to their lifestyle because of the ailment.
